What is your favorite Jane Austen novel? Why? I love Emma. I completely fell in love with Mr. Knightly. He's so solid and caring, and he demonstrates the truest sort of love, love that is willing to accept faults as well as strengths.
Who is your favorite Jane Austen character and why? Elinor Dashwood. I wish I could be like her. Even when bad things occur, she shows such strength of character. I love that she always puts other's interests and feelings above her own, something that I wish I could learn to do.
Do you agree with the quote, the course of true love never did run smooth? Explain: Although I have basically no experience in the "true love" department, I do agree. I think that true love is something that grows stronger through hardships. No relationship can be perfect, so it makes sense that true love will be tested.
What do you like to do in your spare time? I read just about anything I can find. I sing in a band, and face the challenge of being the youngest and only female member of the band. I love to write, even though I've hit a sort of writer's block in the last few months. I'm the editor of our school's yearbook, so most of my time is spent taking pictures, working on Photoshop, and writing articles. Also, I love going to church and youth group. The people there make up my second family.
Please explain the origin/meaning of your username: Melarmony is just a mix of melody and harmony. I think that many things, like relationships with people, can be compared to a blend of melody and harmony.
Are you close with your family and if so, which members? I am very close to my family, even though we have the normal, petty fights that most families have. I'm very close to my mom and dad, and I also have a really special bond with my little brother.
Describe for us what your house/apartment/bedroom/dorm room looks like (and post pictures if you’d like): On January 1st, we had a house fire. I've been living with my grandparents while our house is being fixed up. Since I don't actually have a bedroom of my own right now, I'll just explain how I'm redecorating my bedroom. The walls will be a really light turquoise. All of my furniture will be black, and one wall will be completely black because we're making it a magnetic/chalkboard wall to write my music on. On another wall, I'll have a big mural of staff lines and notes. I'm going to make different collages of black and white pictures from old movies to put above my bed.
What city or country have you never been to but would like to visit and why? After reading the book Bloomability, I wanted to go to Switzerland and Italy for the longest time. Then, after reading Angels and Demons, I decided I just had to go to Rome. Basically, I just want to go to Europe. I want to go to Wales and Germany and Italy and England and Ireland and everywhere. Europe has always seemed so magical to me.
Aside from fictional characters, who is someone you admire, and what do you admire about them? I really admire my grandmother. She is one of the most selfless people I know. After we had the fire in our house, our family of five moved into her small house, and she didn't even blink. She takes care of us all the time and never, ever asks for anything for herself.
What do you love most about your closest friends and what makes you so close? I love the my closest friends accept the fact that I'm single and waiting, not single and looking. They don't judge me based on looks, relationship status, or interests. They know that I like old fashioned things, and they know I'm a book worm, and they don't mind that about me. We're close because we don't try to change each other. We just accept the differences that make us wonderful.
What really upsets you? When someone insults someone I'm close to, or someone does something that is unfair, I get very, very angry and defensive.
If a friend takes you to a party where you know no one else, how do you act? I usually find one or two people that are very welcoming and nonjudgmental, and I basically attach myself to them.
What valuable mementos do you keep from childhood or from your past? My doll I got when I was four months old, all of my photographs from my younger years, every journal I've had since I was ten, and the notes that people write me.
